JONATHAN SUMMERTON
US A1GP A1 Grand Prix Series, Champ Car Atlantic Series, Indycar Indy Lights Series, Formula BMW, Formula 3 Euroseries.

Jonathan Summerton, US racing driver, has set his sights on a Formula One auto racing championship; the biggest  in motor racing. In 2008 he was driving in A1GP, the racing series which takes place during American winter. Typically as an open-wheeler driver, Jonathan Summerton began racing in karts, then began driving in the Skip Barber series where he won his first race.

Summerton raced in Formula BMW in the United States during the 2004 season, winning the series' support race on the road course at Indianapolis during the US Grand Prix. He accomplished this when he was only sixteen years old, becoming the youngest winner driver at the Brickyard. He claimed the FBMW scholarship, then followed in 2006 competing in the notoriously tough Formula 3 Euroseries, winning the season's final race at Hockenheim. Now in his second season driving for A1 Team USA, Jonathan has cut his international driving teeth in the 500 horsepower open wheel cars.

Jonathan recorded a second-place finish at last season's A1GP Mexico City race, his first podium result in the series. Summerton hopes this racing road leads to another American Formula 1 champion. No American has come close since Mario Andretti's world championship campaign in 1978, before Jonathan Summerton was born.
